Introduction
Pillars of success in social media sounds like a cliche. I know.
But do you know several things in this life are usually made of three things?
For example, the arms of government are divided into three major part
1) Executive,
2) Legislator
3) Judiciary.
Where I come from, the levels of government are also divided into three
1) Federal
2) State
3) Local.
A day is also divided into three parts
1) Morning
2) Afternoon
3) Night.
Little wonder, lasting success on social media is also divided into three major parts.
1) Focus
2) Strategy
3) Effort
It is not only nature that loves depending on “three” things
Focus

The social media platforms out there are quite much. Though you should sign up on all the social media platforms. You will be better off focusing on only platforms your target audience use.
Every social media platform has a unique selling proposition (USP). Instagram wants your pictures above other things. Twitter is a microblogging site that just wants a maximum of 280 characters.
Your customer’s avatar determines which social media platforms you focus on and focus is one of the pillars of success in social media
If you sell human hair and hair accessories, I can tell you for free that, you are better off, focusing on Instagram and TicTok.
“What about Facebook, Mr Rockfort?” You might ask
Facebook is the mother of all social media.
You really do not need me to tell you that you need to have a Facebook page for your business and put some effort into that Facebook page.
Apart from your Facebook, you will make more sales and achieve more success with your hair business if you focus more on Instagram and TicTok.
Why is that?
Based on our past experience, ladies who should be your target customers use Instagram and TicTok more than other social media platforms.
To achieve success in the social media space, you should constantly be on the platforms your prospect spend most of their time.
Another way to see the platform to focus your energy is to study your successful competitors.
Check out which social media they use and how their customers find them.
This gives you insight into which social media to focus your energy on.
If you have better products or offers than your successful competitors, you’ll definitely have some success in the social media space.
Strategy
A Facebook page with any random posts or Twitter account will not automatically lead to success in the digital world.
Just like Heading to a river and having a fishing line does not guarantee you will catch a fish. You need bait to catch some fish.
In the same vein, you need to have a strategy in place to have some success in the digital space.
The digital space is noisy. I personally think it is the noisiest space in the world.
Without a strategy, you are just adding to the noise in the social media space which is already noisy.
You may offer valuable services or products for free or maybe run a well researched digital advert consistently. The underline theme is, you need a strategy to have success in the digital space.
Effort
The final pillar of success in Social Media is effort. As a business owner, you are aware that success in any human endeavour requires effort. Social media is not excluded. A great amount of effort is required before value can be captured with social media. A serious business post on their social media every day or at worse, every other day.
There you have it. The right mix of focus, strategy and effort will guarantee success in the social media platforms and ensures business value is captured.
